So much is different and I have to duck about corners so many times… and I came on a frozen lake… and as I looked into it, people appeared… I can look now and see they were my worst fears come to life, but in that moment I was too horrified to think. Mother as she had looked on her death bed… her blood staining her bed clothes where Enishi had ripped his way out of her. She denounced me for a whore. Told me that Father should have sold me to a brothel for shaming the Yukishiro family. Kiyosatto as he had died… ripped apart by sword wounds… telling me that he was a fool for loving such a fickle-hearted woman… that I had forgotten him so easily… Kenshin… succumbed to his wounds… and calling me a traitor… Enishi… murdered by the Yaminobu… and Father with his wrists slit.. both asking why I left them… and begging me to stay…
I don’t know what the end goal was. Perhaps it was to pull me under with them. Or maybe it was just to keep me frozen there… listening to their accusations… but Vash found me. He argued with them on my behalf and broke their hold on me long enough to get away from them. It’s terrifying… knowing they can see into our heads to conjure up such things… I feel as though my sanity is hanging on by a thread…
