I've seen it too many times, both here and in Japan. My husband was a prime example of it. Katsura Kogoro needed a hitokiri to destroy the old regime, someone strong and fast enough to kill without being noticed. He found a foolish boy full of lofty ideals of bringing about a new era of peace--and because that boy happened to be a practitioner of a legendary sword style he took those ideals and twisted them to his own favor. He got what he wanted. It didn't matter that in order to do it he turned a child into a mass-murderer--a child who had only ever wanted to protect people. I will never be able to forgive that man for destroying Kenshin's spirit the way that he did... I foolishly thought I had saved him from that... brought him back from the brink of madness...

But now with my death on his hands as well... I have no idea what will become of him...



Do not worry, Clark-san. I am still winning that daily battle.
